Norway PoHS Detection

It is reported that Norway's proposed ban on the use of certain hazardous substances in consumer products (PoHS: Prohibition on Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer Products) is scheduled to be passed on December 15, 2007 and take effect on January 1, 2008.

This ban will be abbreviated as PoHS for everyone to reference. PoHS "has a similar appearance to the EU RoHS directive, and this new standard covers a larger scope than RoHS. It covers almost all consumer goods (with only a few exceptions). Although this legislation only applies to Norway, it is undoubtedly likely to become the "RoHS" standard actually used for electrical and electronic products exported to Europe. Because few companies would specifically produce a targeted product for a particular market, unless you do not intend to sell the product to Norway.

The product categories included in PoHS include not only electronic and electrical consumer goods, but also clothing, luggage, construction, toys, etc. The new regulations suggest restricting 18 substances, of which only 2 (lead and cadmium) are included in the EU RoHS directive, and an additional 16 substances are prohibited from use.
